Step-by-Step Description
Browns , Anvil: Set Up and Height Adjustment Guide
Safety first. Gloves are recommended!
Start by selecting the placement of your grill. Place it where cooking is convenient and the handle does not block movement near the fire.
It is best to have only the end of the grill in the high heat area of the fire, so the handle does not get too hot. Placing the grill to close will make the handle uncomfortably hot.
Place grill on the ground and drive the sharp end of the post into the ground through the hole on the handle of the grill. The post needs to be straight up and down or as close to plum as possible. The post needs to be at least eight inches or 20cm into the ground and deeper if its softer ground.
Next slide the grill up the post to desired starting position. Once you have slid the grill up the post to get into the initial cooking position, the grill may be repositioned up or down at any time during the cooking process. You can also swing it in either direction simply by pushing the handle.
To reposition the grill height, grab on the grill handle, one hand on the grill side of the post and one hand at the end of handle furthest from the grill and tilt grill upwards. This will release the grill from the post and allow you to raise or lower as required.
Once you have reached the desired height, let the grill tilt back down and it will remain in that position.
The grill can swing at any height. This height adjustment can happen anytime as often as necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Browns ANVIL different from a standard portable grill?
The MAN Grill is designed for ultimate heat control in rugged environments. It features a unique post-and-sleeve system—you simply drive the post into the ground near any fire, and the grill slides over it. This allows for limitless height adjustment so you can find the perfect temperature for your cook, regardless of the fire's size.
What kind of maintenance does my cast iron gear require?
To keep your cast iron in peak condition, always hand wash it with warm water (avoid harsh soaps). Dry it immediately and apply a light coating of cooking oil while the metal is still warm. This maintains the seasoning and prevents rust.
Can I use the Anvil with a portable propane fire pit?
The ANVIL is specifically designed for use with wood or charcoal fires where you can drive the support post into the ground. It can also be used with standalone propane units.
